Monmouth County Man Gets 34 Years In 2012 Shooting Outside Bar
Tyrice L. Berry, 24, received consecutive sentences in the attempted murders of two men he shot outside the Cameo Bar in Asbury Park.

TOMS RIVER, NJ — A Neptune City man has been sentenced to consecutive sentences totalling 34 years in prison for the 2012 attempted murder of two men outside a popular Asbury Park bar, Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said Thursday.
Tyrice L. Berry, 24, of Neptune City, was sentenced to the maximum term of 24 years in prison for his conviction on first-degree attempted murder. The sentence is subject to the provisions of the No Early Release Act requiring him to serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for release on parole,, Gramiccioni said. He would also be under parole supervision for five years following his release from state prison.
Berry additionally was sentenced to a consecutive 3-year term on second-degree aggravated assault in the incident, subject to NERA, plus 8 years for second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and possession of a handgun without a permit, Gramiccioni said.

The sentence was handed down by Judge Rochelle Gizinski sitting in Ocean County Superior Court in Toms River, where Berry was tried and in October convicted on two counts each of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and the weapons charges in the Oct. 19, 2012 shooting outside the Cameo Bar, the prosecutor's office said.
Asbury Park patrol officers in the area of Main Street and Sunset Avenue heard shots at 1:23 a.m. and found two men, ages 28 and 30, both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds outside the bar at 1213 Main Street. Both men were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune Township, where they received treatment for their injuries, the prosecutor's office said.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office and Asbury Park Police Department investigated and determined the victims were seated in a parked vehicle when they were fired upon by two individuals, one of whom was identified as Berry. A thorough forensic investigation resulted in the recovery of key pieces of evidence that were later linked to the defendant, Gramiccioni said.
