Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office Plants Annual Purple Flag Display
27 purple flags were planted representing those lost to overdoses in Monmouth County throughout the first quarter of 2024.
FREEHOLD, NJ — Members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office joined the Prevention Coalition of Monmouth County on Monday for the annual placement of purple flags in front of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office in Freehold.
Each flag represents one of the 27 people lost to a fatal overdose in Monmouth County during the first quarter of 2024, the Prosecutor’s Office said.
Similar displays are going up outside municipal buildings throughout the County as August leads up to International Overdose Awareness Day on Aug. 31.
