Monmouth County Sheriff's Office Earns "Cleanup Award" from the New Jersey Clean Communities Council

Monmouth County Sheriff's Office recognized for Inmate Labor Program

The Monmouth County Sheriff’s Office has received the “Cleanup Award” from the New Jersey Clean Communities Council (NJCCC) for the Inmate Labor Program, an initiative to offer much needed assistance to towns and reduce litter in public places.

The Inmate Labor Program allows the inmate work crews to give back to society, and also helps the towns save money on labor. In March, five inmates spent two days cleaning up more than 2,000 pounds of litter and debris from along Shafto and Wayside Roads and Center Street.

“The Inmate Labor Program shows the strong commitment that the Monmouth County Sheriff Office has towards making New Jersey cleaner,” said NJCCC Executive Director Sandy Huber. “We are proud of all the work that the Sheriff Office has done, and look forward to seeing the steady growth of the Inmate Labor Program for years to come.”
