Music Hour with Alan Wasserman
The Cecilian Music Club presents an hour of musical performance and discussion with recording artist Alan Wasserman

Every performer is welcome
at Alan Wasserman's Music Hour, from elementary school students to
seasoned professionals. Mr. Wasserman, one of the Cecilian Music
Club's premier recording artists, leads this informal hour of
performance and discussion four times a year at the Piano Division
of Freehold Music Center in Freehold.
Mr. Wasserman opened the
March 4 session by inviting his students, Bobby and Tiffani Paglia,
to perform a lively duet, “The Washington Post,” by John Philip
Sousa. Then Bobby played a Scherzo by Franz Schubert, and Tiffani
followed with “Rondo Alla Turca,” by Mozart. Then Bobby sang
“Uptown Girl,” by Billy Joel, while alternating between piano and
electric guitar accompaniment, backed up by sister Tiffani on drums!
Elizabeth Darrar, a student of Lola Breitweiser, concluded the
student performances with a lovely, dramatic rendition of “The Blue
Mountain,” by composer Giya Kancheli.
The discussion then
turned to the life and music of Moritz Moszkowski, a German-Jewish
composer from Vienna. The audience particularly enjoyed his Etude No.
5, with its creative use of scale passages. The evening ended with
jazz performances, “Bumble Boogie,” by Jack Fina, and “Blue
Rondo,” by Dave Brubeck, with Alan Wasserman on piano and Tom Sciro
on drums.
