'My County' Poster Winners' Work Will Be Displayed In Freehold
Winner Isabella Nuzzolo of St. Leo the Great School was inspired by Monopoly to create a 'Monmouthopoly' poster focused on county themes.
FREEHOLD, N.J.— A Monopoly-style take on Monmouth County helped one fourth-grader pass "Go" and collect a top prize in a county poster contest.
The top three winners of the “My County” Poster Contest, all fourth-grade students in area schools, were recognized at the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners meeting on June 21.
Isabella Nuzzolo of St. Leo the Great School in the Lincroft section of Middletown won first place for her poster called "Monmouthopoly," a game of Monopoly with the theme centered around Monmouth County.

“My favorite board game is Monopoly and I chose to use the board game idea that my dad’s brother made called, Statenopoly. That inspired me to make my poster about Monmouthopoly and I used all of my favorite places,” Isabella said.
Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden, County Clerk Christine Giordano Hanlon and County Surrogate Maureen Raisch announced the winners.

Since the majority of fourth-grade students study the state of New Jersey as part of their social studies curriculum each year, the three invite students to enter the countywide poster contest, a news release from Golden's office said.
School principals throughout Monmouth County are asked to get fourth-grade students involved by creating their own poster that relates to Monmouth County. Once they are all submitted, the sheriff, clerk and surrogate judge them.
Also acknowledged for their posters were second-place winners Piper Dougherty of Atlantic Highlands Elementary School and Kennedy Crowther of St. Leo the Great. The third place winner was Katie Kruszinis of Robertsville Elementary School in Marlboro. All winners were honored with a certificate and Barnes and Noble gift cards.
“The creativity of these students in the fourth grade is amazing," said Hanlon. “We enjoy seeing the different perspectives of the students year after year and what’s important to them.”
The posters submitted will be displayed at the county clerk’s offices throughout the next 12 months.
