Obituary: George J. Etlinger, 59

George J. Etlinger, 59, of Freehold Township died Sunday, Oct. 2.  He was born in Bronx, NY.

He was a captain with the Freehold Township Police Department, where he served for 25 years. After his retirement, he was an agent with the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

He was a member of Freehold Township Policeman’s Benevolent Association No. 209.

Surviving are his former wife, Sandra Schingo Etlinger; two sons, Frank and Michael Etlinger; a daughter, Gina Marie Etlinger; a brother, Frank Etlinger; a sister, Cecelia Davidson; and two nieces and a nephew.

Visiting hours will be held at the St. Rose of Lima Chapel in Freehold on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.  with a wake service to be held at 8 p.m.  The funeral liturgy will be held at in Freehold on Friday, Oct. 7 at 10 a.m. Memorial donations to Michael Pepe Cancer Foundation, 238 Main Ave, Apt. 1, Stirling, NJ 07980 would be appreciated. in Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
