for the past week, i have been protesting olde freehold day in front of the hall of records building on main st. freehold, nj. i am surprised by some of the comments of passersby. most people pass by without any comments or even looking at the signs. a lot of people pass by, look briefly and go on their way. the people that make comments are the most interesting for me. most of the people that make comments are people with negative things to say. one police officer read the signs and suggested that maybe i should leave freehold and live somewhere else. a civilian stated that freehold wasn't the only city in nj that was intolerant and racist. however a few citizens had encouraging words and said that they would think about not attending olde freehold day. again, i think that most freehold residents are fair and decent people. i am not expecting to change many people's minds. i am a realist. i will keep trying, however.
