Patel & Soltis Announces Appointment of Policy Director to NJ Governor-Elect's Transition Committee

The Law Firm of Patel & Soltis today announced the appointment of its Policy Director, Lazaro Cardenas, to the Transition Committee for New Jersey Governor-Elect Phil Murphy. Cardenas has served as the firm’s policy director since its founding in 2014 advising the legal team on immigrant and civil rights policy issues.

“Our firm is deeply committed to civil rights and social justice and Cardenas has been invaluable in guiding our pro-bono priorities,” said Veer Patel, a founding member of the firm. “It is a testament to Cardenas’ dedication and knowledge that Governor-Elect Murphy appointed him to the Law and Justice Committee. We are proud of his achievements.”
Cardenas has served as Deputy Director of the Latino Coalition of New Jersey since 2005 and been a member of the Steering Committee of the Latino Action Network since 2010. In that time, he has distinguished himself in the field of immigrant and civil rights. He worked tirelessly to secure in-state tuition for immigrant children. His current policy agenda consists of battling the anti-immigrant policies of the Trump Administration and promoting access to state financial aid for immigrant children attending state colleges and universities and securing driver’s licenses for undocumented immigrants.

“I look forward to working with Governor-Elect Murphy to build a more inclusive state government,” said Cardenas. “We have a lot of work to do to rebuild New Jersey after eight years of mismanagement by outgoing Governor Christie. This is a chance for a new beginning and I am glad to be part of it.”
Patel & Soltis was founded in 2014 and specializes in real estate with a particular focus on foreclosure defense and bankruptcy. The firm is also deeply committed to civil rights and is working on several cases involving school desegregation.
