Pedestrian Hit, Route 9 South Closed In Freehold: Authorities
Breaking: The accident happened near the McDonald's, according to a report.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Authorities were investigating an accident Sunday evening on Route 9 in Freehold Township where a pedestrian was hit, according to authorities.
According to 511nj.org, all of the southbound lanes of Route 9 were closed in the area for an investigation of the accident, which happened before 6 p.m.
The Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS Facebook page reported the accident shortly after 6 p.m. and said the pedestrian was seriously injured.

The investigation forced authorities to close Route 9 from Route 537 (West Main Street) to the Schanck Road/Route 79 intersection, according to Monmouth County Police, Fire & EMS. Traffic is being detoured, and motorists should avoid the area.
