Raw and wet weather lingers today
Cool, raw, and wet weather is in place today, but colder yet drier weather is on the way!

A raw, wet day is on the way for the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas as a marine air mass from the Atlantic Ocean has become established over the region. A cold front will move through this afternoon and drive a fresh Polar air mass into the northern Mid Atlantic leading to clearing skies tonight and colder weather conditions by tomorrow morning.
Overcast skies, fog, and widely scattered showers can be expected through this afternoon as a cold front approaches the region. Winds will veer to the southwest at 5 to 15 mph, increasing to 10 to 20 mph by this afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the upper 40’s to lower 50’s over the interior and lower to mid 50’s along the coast.
High pressure will build into the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas tonight on through Friday with a few scattered clouds expected and dry conditions. Winds will veer from the northwest to northeast at 10 to 20 mph through the forecast period as high pressure drifts over the forecast area. Low temperatures tonight will range from the upper 20’s over the interior and lower to mid 30’s along the coast. High temperatures tomorrow afternoon will rise into the upper 30’s to lower 40’s over the interior and lower to mid 40’s along the coast. Low temperatures on Friday will range from the lower to mid 20’s over the interior and upper 20’s to lower 30’s along the coast. High temperatures will rebound into the lower to mid 40’s over the interior and mid to upper 40’s along the coast on Friday afternoon.

A strong disturbance will dive towards the Mid Atlantic coast on Saturday and develop a coastal low pressure system off the Maryland coast. This low pressure system will meander off the New Jersey coastal waters Saturday afternoon through Monday with periods of rain expected mixing with snow at times and a strengthening northeasterly wind. Temperatures will range from the lower to mid 30’s for lows and lower to mid 40’s for highs throughout the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan area.
High pressure will build into the northern Mid Atlantic on Tuesday with clearing skies and seasonable temperatures. Low temperatures will range from the upper 20’s to lower 30’s over the interior and lower to mid 30’s along the coast. High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 40’s throughout the region.
