Today through tonight, a rapidly weakening cold front will approach the region with scattered to broken cloud cover and scattered showers and isolated strong to severe thunderstorms. The strongest thunderstorms will be capable of frequent lightning wind gusts over 40 mph, hail, and very heavy downpours. Winds will be from the southwest at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the upper 60's to lower 70's over Connecticut and Long Island, mid to upper 70's over the New York City metropolitan areas, and upper 70's to lower 80's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Temperatures will fall into the upper 50's to lower 60's for lows.
Tomorrow, the cold front, although falling apart, will drop to the south of the northern Mid Atlantic leading to scattered cloud cover and isolated showers and thunderstorms. Winds will veer to the west at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will rise into the mid 70's along the immediate coast and upper 70's to lower 80's throughout the rest of the region.
