Threat for rain lingers through tomorrow

The wave of heavy rainfall that moved through the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas this morning is exiting leading to clearing skies through this morning, however the threat for showers and thunderstorms will continue to linger through tomorrow.

As the disturbance that produced the heavy rainfall early this morning exist into the Atlantic, skies will continue to clear leading to pleasant weather conditions for the late morning and early afternoon hours. Winds will be from the east at 5 to 10 mph through this afternoon. Temperatures will rise into the lower to mid 70’s over the northern interior, mid to upper 70’s in the New York City metropolitan areas and along the New Jersey coast, and upper 70’s to lower 80’s in the Philadelphia metropolitan area.

This evening through tomorrow, another series of disturbances will drop southeast from the Great Lakes towards the New Jersey coastal waters. As a result, showers and some thunderstorms will be a threat through the period. The showers and thunderstorms may be heavy at times leading to localized flash flooding. Winds will back from the east to the northeast at 5 to 15 mph. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 60’s for lows tomorrow morning and rise into the mid to upper 70’s for highs tomorrow afternoon.

Strong high pressure from northeastern Canada will build south tomorrow night through Sunday leading to clearing skies and lower humidity. Winds will back to the north at 5 to 15 mph tomorrow night on through Sunday. Temperatures will range from the upper 50’s to lower 60’s for lows and upper 70’s to mid to upper 70’s for highs.

High pressure will remain in control Monday on through Thursday with clear skies to scattered cloud cover. Temperatures will slowly moderate to near normal levels. Low temperatures will range from the lower to mid 60’s through the period. High temperatures will range from the lower to mid 80’s.
