Vigil For Dallas Officers Monday In Monmouth County
Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden said the candlelight vigil will be at the county police academy.

Freehold, NJ -- Law enforcement officers from around Monmouth County will be gathering Monday evening to honor the Dallas police officers killed Thursday night by a sniper.
A candlelight vigil is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 11, in front of the Monmouth County Police Academy, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden announced.
Golden and his officers will be joined by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police Association and PBA-Monmouth County Conference for the vigil, Golden's office announced on Facebook. Law enforcement officers and clergy from around Monmouth County also will be in attendance, he said.

The Monmouth County Police Academy is at 2000 Kozloski Road, Freehold.
Five officers -- Brent Thompson, Lorne Ahrens, Patrick Zamarripa, Michael J. Smith, and Michael Krol -- were killed and seven others were injured in the shooting that occurred during a protest in Dallas over the deaths of two black men killed Wednesday by police officers -- one in Louisiana and one in Minnesota.

The sniper opened fire on the police officers as the protesters were beginning to disperse, according to reports.
