FREEHOLD, NJ — The next Mayor's Wellness Campaign Walk About Town is Tuesday, Aug. 30, and it's the last one of the summer, so town officials are encouraging residents to join in.

The group will meet at 6 p.m. at Borough Hall, 30 Mechanic St., said Lynn Cannon, a member of the Wellness Campaign committee.

The previous Walk About Town involved a walk to Veterans Park. While there, Councilwoman Sharon Shutzer spoke about the Lewis brothers, six brothers from Freehold Borough who all fought in World War II. The Lewis Brothers Pavilion is dedicated to the brothers, who served in every branch of the military in the war.

Veterans Park, 41 Schanck St., is a little oasis in the town that has exercise stations, play equipment for kids, and benches and the pavilion from which to enjoy nature, said Cannon.

There is no specific itinerary set for the walk on Tuesday. Where the group decides to walk depends on the weather and the interests of the people participating, Cannon said. No future walks are planned as yet, but autumn walks will be considered, she added.
