WATCH: Freehold Township Police Officer Highlighted In Prosecutor's Office Video

In a series called "Behind the Badge," Patrolman Alexander Fay talks about his experience.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Freehold Township Patrolman Alexander Fay says one of the most difficult days he's had on the job was the day he responded to a fatal motorcycle accident.

He found the victim's cell phone on the ground and put it in his pocket for safekeeping, he said.

When officers wrapped up the on-scene investigation, Fay said, he pulled the phone out of his pocket.

"(The victim's) mom had called 13 times," he said. "That was definitely a bad day."

Fay spoke about the incident in a video produced by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office that profiled him, as the latest in the prosecutor's office's series "Behind the Badge." The videos feature law enforcement officers talking about why they work in law enforcement: the ups and downs, what they like about the job, and more.
