Waves of moderate to heavy rain with a strong easterly winds at 15 to 25 mph will lead to raw, wet, and miserable conditions for the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas through tomorrow morning. Flash flooding, urban flooding, and coastal flooding are all concerns through tomorrow morning with rainfall amounts of two to four inches expected for much of the region. The good news is this weekend is shaping up to be rather pleasant with near normal temperatures and dry conditions.
Today on through tomorrow morning, periods of rain can be expected. The rain will be very heavy at times leading to localized urban flooding, flash flooding of streams and rivers, and also very poor visibility below 2 miles at times. Winds will remain from the east through the period at 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts. The persistent easterly wind will lead to some minor coastal flooding through tomorrow morning. Temperatures will rise and then remain steady through tomorrow morning into the lower to mid 50's over the interior and New York City metropolitan area and upper 50's to lower 60's over the Philadelphia metropolitan area and interior southeastern Pennsylvania.
The warm front will lift northeast into New England by tomorrow afternoon with heavy rain giving way to scattered cloud cover and isolated showers and thunderstorms. The thunderstorms ahead of an advancing cold front in the evening will be capable of very heavy downpours, wind gusts over 50 mph, frequent lightning, and small hail. Winds will veer to the southwest at 10 to 20 mph with higher gusts. Temperatures will sky rocket into the lower to mid 70's over much of the region, mid to upper 60's over Long Island.

The cold front will exit tomorrow night with clearing skies and dry conditions. Winds will veer to the northwest at 10 to 20 mph, subsiding to 5 to 10 mph towards morning. Temperatures will fall into the mid to upper 40's for lows.
High pressure will generally take hold over the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas Friday on through Tuesday. A few passing cold fronts to the north will keep the threat for isolated showers in the forecast in the afternoon hours, however most locations will remain dry. Temperatures will return to near normal levels through this weekend with lows in the upper 40's to lower 50's and highs in the mid to upper 60's. Overall, after a raw and wet week, the weekend is looking absolutely perfect.
