Police say the accident began when Shawn McIntosh, of Hammonton, ran a red light at Pomona Road while driving a 2006 Ford west on Route 30 at about 1:36 p.m.

He hit a 2014 Honda CRV driven by Ashley Bartholomew of Millville and a 2016 Explorer driven by Heather Archut of Philadelphia, Pa., as they started into traffic on a green signal traveling south on Pomona Road, police said.

Bartholomew and Melissa Peck, who was a passenger in the CRV, were trapped and needed to be rescued by the Pomona Fire Company. They were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center's Mainland Campus to be treated for moderate injuries.

After it hit the initial two cars, he Ford then crossed the center line and traveled west into the eastbound lanes. A trailer that it was towing flipped over and hit a 2004 Ford Explorer Sportrac driven by Jamie Grim, of Mays Landing, while it was stopped at the signal for eastbound traffic, police said.

Outside of Bartholomew and Peck, everyone involved in the accident were evaluated on scene for injuries or complaints of pain except for Grim, who was uninjured.

McIntosh was issued a summons for disregard of a traffic control device. Ofc. Steve Garrison of GTPD Traffic Unit is investigating.
