8-Year-Old Asleep In Car Killed In South Jersey Crash: Prosecutor
The boy, asleep after fishing with his dad, was killed when another driver veered off the road and struck the parked car, officials said.
ABSECON, NJ β An 8-year-old boy was killed in a crash while sleeping in a parked car, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.
The crash happened at about 3:30 a.m. on July 23, according to officials. The boy had been fishing with his dad that day, officials said.
Edward Johnston, 25, of Egg Harbor City was heading west on White Horse Pike when his Nissan Sentra went off the road and veered into the shoulder, officials said.

The Nissan hit a Honda parked on the shoulder where the boy was sleeping, officials said. It wasn't clear if the boy's father was in the car when the crash occur
He was taken to the hospital where he later died of his injuries, officials said.

Johnston was issued several motor vehicle summonses, officials said, and additional charges may be forthcoming pending final investigation into the cause of the crash.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's Crash Investigations Unit and the Absecon Police Department are cooperatively investigating this incident.
