Absecon Police Investigating Vandalism at Field of Dreams

Canola Oil was poured all over the equipment at the baseball field for special needs children.

Absecon Police are investigating a complaint of criminal mischief that took place at the Field of Dreams over the past two days, police announced Wednesday afternoon.

Caretakers of the field and playground area advised police on Tuesday afternoon that someone poured Canola Oil all over the special needs playground equipment, making the metal and plastic surfaces slippery and unable to use.

Police recovered an empty bottle nearby which may have been used to damage the property.

Police secured the area with yellow caution tape until a professional cleaning company could respond to clean the oil off of all the playground equipment.

Police and Field of Dreams Officials are reviewing video surveillance cameras located at the field in an attempt to obtain a description of the suspect(s).

The South Jersey Field of Dreams is a baseball field designed specifically for children with physical and cognitive disabilities. It is located in the Jonathan Pitney Recreation Park in Absecon.

The incident is being investigated by Officer Chris Cavileer.
