Absecon School's Golf Carts Stolen, Posted On Craigslist

Police contacted the seller and arranged a fake purchase to find a suspect.

ABSECON, NJ — Two golf carts and their battery chargers were stolen from Holy Spirit High School and then posted on Craigslist. Absecon police found a suspect by arranging a fake purchase.

Jahill L. Barley, 25, of Pleasantville, was charged with receiving stolen property, police said.

Police received the burglary report Tuesday afternoon involving the school's concession stand and garage-storage area. Authorities found the concession stand and other parts of the building were damaged.

Absecon police found one of the golf carts for sale on Craigslist and arranged to make a fake purchase. That's when they took Barley into custody, police said. He was released on a summons.

Police also discovered that the second golf cart was already sold Monday. They contacted the buyer Wednesday, and he or she returned the golf cart and battery charger. Both carts have now been returned to Holy Spirit High School.
