Accused Killer Jumps Out Window To Flee Atlantic City Police

Jamar Jones, 35, was charged with murder in connection with the death of Luis Rosa-Rodriguez last November, police said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ β€” An accused killer jumped out of a third-story window in an attempt to flee Atlantic City police following a Nov. 2023 homicide, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

Jamar Jones, 35, is charged with murder in connection with the Nov. 7 death of Luis Rosa-Rodriguez, authorities said. On that day, Rosa-Rodriguez was shot and killed on the unit block south of Florida Avenue in Atlantic City, according to a news release.

Trying to flee from police at about 8:30 a.m. on Feb. 20, Jones jumped from a third-floor window of an apartment building on Martin Luther King Boulevard, authorities said.

He sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries from the fall, authorities said.

Jones, an Atlantic City resident, was identified as the suspect following an investigation, officials said. He was charged with murder, possession of a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession of a handgun without a permit to carry and possession of a firearm by a certain person on Dec. 11, 2023, authorities said. Jones has been a fugitive for these charges since.

This incident is currently being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office's
Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit.
