Three people are dead, and one of two killers is on the loose after two separate shootings in the past few days in New Jersey.
Atlantic County Shooting
In Egg Harbor Township, a man shot and killed his estranged wife while she was working at a nursing facility, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.
The shooting occurred at about 6 a.m. Monday.
Brandon Alexander, 35, waited in the Excelcare Rehabilitation Facility parking lot for Victoria Alexander, 38, to arrive to work, authorities said. She worked there as a nurse.
Once she arrived, Brandon Alexander blocked her in, entered her car and left two suicide notes on her dashboard, officials said.
A food delivery truck driver asked Brandon Alexander to move his car and Victoria Alexander took that opportunity to run into the building, authorities said.
Brandon Alexander followed her inside, where he shot her several times and then shot himself, authorities said.
She was pronounced dead at the scene; he was hospitalized and died from his injuries early Tuesday, officials said.
Chick-fil-A Mass Shooting
Around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Union Township Police went to Chick-fil-A on Route 22 and found seven victims, one of whom was pronounced dead, authorities said.
Police found seven victims at the restaurant.
Malek Shepherd, 23, of New York City, was pronounced dead at the scene. The remaining six victims suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
A dashcam video, shared by the New York Post, shows a masked gunman running away from the restaurant.
"I got an unconscious witness. I've got one shot in the face ... and I have at least two in the leg," a 911 dispatcher says in audio obtained by CBS News New York.
The Union County Prosecutor’s Office(UCPO) has said that the shooting was not a random act.
"While no arrests have been made at this time, the preliminary investigation reveals this does not appear to be a random act of violence and that there is no immediate ongoing threat to the general public," according to UCPO.
A reward of up to $10,000 from the Union County Crime Stoppers is also being offered to anyone who provides a tip that leads to an indictment and conviction.
Anyone with information is asked to contact UCPO Homicide Task Force Detective Edward Mack at 908-347-2212, Sergeant Jennifer Smith at 908-759-8254, or Union Police Department Detective Teon Freeman at 908-851-5033.
