ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A fundraiser launched to help the Atlantic City police officer shot in the line of duty Tuesday has already raised more than $130,000 as of Wednesday morning.
Sgt. Christian Ivanov and another officer were shot on North Florida Avenue June 2, Patch previously reported. A civilian was killed.
Ivanov was critically injured and remains hospitalized in serious but stable condition, according to the GoFundMe.
"To many, Christian is a highly respected SWAT Sergeant with the Atlantic City Police Department, a leader who has spent his career running toward danger when others are running away from it," the fundraiser reads. "He is known for his courage, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to protecting others."
He is also a husband and father to three children, according to the fundraiser.
"He is a successful small business owner, a mentor, a friend, and the kind of person who is always willing to help others without hesitation," the GoFundMe reads.
The fundraiser aims to support Ivanov and his family with medical bills, childcare, household expenses and more.
It has a goal of $170,000.
