ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — Ninety-six jobs at the Sheraton Atlantic City Convention Center Hotel will be cut as of Oct. 1, according to a state WARN Notice.
The layoffs come as the hotel is preparing to replace half of its rooms with senior apartments.
Of the hotel's 502 rooms, 130 will be converted into housing, while 252 will be renovated.
The plan was approved this past March.
The hotel offers 15 meeting rooms and 12 breakout rooms, with more than 14,000 square feet of event space.
According to NJ.com, the plan is to utilize state tax incentives to renovate the aging property.
Atlantic City Council approved tax breaks for the property's redevelopment in June.
