EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — Egg Harbor Township will host its annual National Night Out celebration on Aug. 4, 2026, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Veteran's Memorial Park, according to the Egg Harbor Township Police Department. The event is being held in cooperation with the Egg Harbor Township Municipal Alliance.
Police described National Night Out as one of the region's most prominent community events, drawing thousands of residents for an evening focused on unity, public safety and neighborhood pride. This year's event is set to include food vendors, live demonstrations, interactive displays, kids' activities, giveaways and a wing eating contest. Entertainment will include live music from The Party Wave Band, which will replace the traditional fireworks display.
According to the announcement, National Night Out began in 1984 and is intended to strengthen relationships between residents and law enforcement. The township said it remains committed to creating a welcoming setting that encourages positive engagement and supports public safety.
The 2026 event will also include updated rules tied to problems seen at past gatherings. The announcement said prior concerns involved large groups of unsupervised juveniles, including rough housing, fights, foul and abusive language, vaping and smoking. The township said that behavior disrupts the purpose of the event and will not be tolerated.
Under the event policies, all children younger than 16 must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult for the duration of the event. Park hours will be strictly enforced once the event ends. The announcement also said attendees who are dropped off must arrange prompt pickup immediately after the event, including those using ride sharing services such as Lyft and Uber.
Event coordinators, staff and police personnel will have the authority to direct individuals to leave the event if needed, according to the announcement.
"We are proud to host an event that highlights the best of Egg Harbor Township," said Frederick Spano, Chief of Police. "National Night Out is meant to be a safe, enjoyable evening where families, neighbors, and officers come together. We've made a few important changes to keep the focus where it belongs—on community connection, mutual respect, and a fun night out for everyone."
The police department said it is encouraging residents to attend and help maintain an atmosphere that reflects the township's values and unity.
