Teen Brandished Gun On School Bus, South Jersey Cops Say

MAYS LANDING, NJ — A 14-year-old boy from Mays Landing is accused of brandishing a gun on a school bus, Township of Hamilton police said.

The teen showed the gun to other students on a bus home on July 29, police said.

He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, juvenile possession of handgun ammunition, possession of a handgun for unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of firearm on school property and possession of firearm by a minor.

The boy sits in Harborfields Juvenile Detention Center.

The handgun had not been properly secured inside the residence, police said.

As a result, 39-year-old Mays Landing resident Josh Mutcherson was charged with minor access to a loaded firearm, endangering the welfare of a child by allowing access to loaded firearm and tampering with evidence.

All guns in the residence were turned over to police.

Mutcherson was released on a summons.
