ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — An Atlantic City man has been indicted on a first-degree murder charge in connection with a 2009 cold case, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office said.

At about 12:30 a.m. on June 3, 2009, Atlantic City police responded to the area of 227 N. South Carolina Ave. for a shooting, officials said.

Nesbitt had suffered several gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead, authorities said.

Over the past several months, detectives from the Major Crimes Unit reexamined the cold case and all of the evidence and ultimately a determination was made that probable cause existed to charge Woods with the murder, authorities said.

On July 14, 2026, an Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Woods on one count of first-degree murder.

He now sits in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
