Explosion Destroys NJ Home

PLEASANTVILLE, NJ — A South Jersey home was destroyed by a possible explosion, the Pleasantville Fire Department said.

Pleasantville firefighters responded to a structure fire Tuesday afternoon, the department shared on social media. Initial reports advised crews of a possible explosion.

Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire conditions and worked quickly to knock down the flames, ultimately shifting operations to protect surrounding structures as conditions on scene changed, the department said.

All of the home's occupants were safely out before firefighters arrived and all are accounted for.

One firefighter sustained a minor injury.

Four residents were displaced. The American Red Cross is assisting them.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
