Argument Led To Stabbing In Atlantic City: Police

The 19-year-old suspect was found several blocks away from where a 44-year-old was found with a stab wound, police said.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A 19-year-old man stabbed a person following a verbal altercation in Atlantic City, police said.

Police responded to the stabbing on the 2500 block of Atlantic Avenue at 8:30 p.m. on Oct. 6.

A 44-year-old Atlantic City resident was found suffering from a stab wound, police said. Officers got a description of the suspect and shortly after, found Jerry Martinez, 19, a few blocks over, police said.

Martinez, also of Atlantic City, was identified as the attacker and taken into custody, police said.

Police said that Martinez and the victim had a verbal altercation before the stabbing.

Martinez was charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
