Arrest Made In 2014 Murder Of Absecon Man: Prosecutor

Alexander Campbell has been charged in the fatal shooting of 22-year-old Kenneth Sandoz.

An Atlantic City man has been arrested and charged in connection with the 2014 fatal shooting of an Absecon man, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton said on Thursday.

Alexander Campbell, 24, was arrested on Wednesday in connection with the murder of 22-year-old Kenneth Sandoz. He was arrested at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he was being held on an unrelated matter, by detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and the Atlantic City Police Department.

He is charged with two counts of first-degree murder, second-degree possession of a weapon (handgun) for an unlawful purpose and second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon (handgun).

He was processed for the arrest at the Prosecutor’s Office, and returned to the custody of the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Atlantic City Police responded to the 1200 block of Adriatic Avenue on Dec. 22, 2014, at about 7:47 p.m.
Upon arrival, they discovered Sandoz’s body, the apparent victim of a fatal shooting. Next-of-kin was notified.

An autopsy performed two days later determined the cause of death to be multiple gunshot wounds, and the manner of death to be homicide.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department investigated the murder for the next two years, ultimately arresting Campbell this week.

No further details on the investigation were provided. Campbell was scheduled to make his first court appearance Thursday afternoon.
