Atlantic Cape Community College Celebrates 50th Anniversary
It was recognized by chambers of commerce in both counties this month.
Atlantic Cape Community College celebrated its 50th anniversary with accolades from two regional chambers of commerce this month.
The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce presented the college with a special award for its 50-year commitment to higher education during an event at the Ocean City Yacht Club on Nov. 15, the college said this week.
Two days later, the college was recognized by the Greater Atlantic City Chamber of Commerce, which presented a resolution to Atlantic Cape President Peter L. Mora during the college’s regular meeting at the Stockton Seaview Resort.

The college received approval from the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) in December of 1963, and became the second college organized by the state on April 14, 1964.
Atlantic Community College opened in September of 1966, using facilities rented from Atlantic City High School.

Atlantic Cape now has full-service campuses in Mays Landing, Atlantic City and Cape May Court House.
In 1999, the college officially became a joint college between Atlantic and Cape May counties and was renamed Atlantic Cape Community College.
