According to the announcement, the June 2 incident began when ACPD officers, including members of the department’s SWAT team, were executing a search warrant.

“An individual inside the residence opened fire as officers entered, striking two officers,” the announcement said. It also said Reynolds “stopped the assailant.” The wounded officers were taken to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center for emergency treatment.

The Atlantic City Police Foundation described itself as an independent nonprofit founded by current and former police officers and business and civic leaders. According to the announcement, the group works to improve public safety in Atlantic City and sustain police department initiatives that would otherwise not be feasible under the city’s budget. The foundation also supports community policing and anti-violence initiatives, as well as PAL and the Police Explorers.

Limited tickets are available at www.acpolicefoundation.org. Tickets cost $100 for active or retired members of the public safety community and $130 for all others. More information is available by contacting info@acpolicefoundation.org.
