Atlantic County May Take Over Policing Efforts in Atlantic City

Atlantic County may take over police efforts in Atlantic City, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

The issue was one of many discussed during Monday’s Atlantic City Summit, in which Gov. Chris Christie met with 30 political and public leaders to discuss the crisis currently gripping the city, according to the report.

With three casinos already closed, a fourth closing next week and a fifth facing bankruptcy, the City’s tax base stands to take a major hit.

The City spends about $31.7 million on the police department, according to the report.
