BREAKING: School Bus, Fuel Truck Crash In Galloway Area

The school bus was full of children, and at least one person was extricated and transported to the hospital.

A school bus and a fuel truck crashed on the Garden State Parkway, leaving one person seriously injured, state police said.

The bus was full of kids, but no children were injured, Sgt. Jeff Flynn told Shore News Today. One did have reports of pain, and emergency personnel responded to check all of the children, he said.

The driver of the fuel truck was extricated from the vehicle by rescue workers near Exit 17 in Dennis Township at about 7:45 a.m., and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center trauma unit with serious injuries, Flynn said.

Flynn said the school bus was registered to Great American Trolley, but he did not yet have information about which school system the bus served, saying second school bus arrived on the scene at 9 a.m. to transport the children to school, according to the report.

That crash and another accident snarled traffic for several hours, according to the state Department of Transportation.

As of 9:12am, an incident was reported as an “accident with Injuries” on the Garden State Parkway northbound just south of Exit 17 in Dennis Township. The right lane and shoulder were blocked, according to officials.

Just before that, there was an overturned vehicle that was blocking the left lane to all northbound traffic. The report said that accident had injuries.

That accident occurred around 7:45 a.m. at mile marker 18 on the Parkway, and police and rescue crews were at the scene, according to officials.
