Car Flips Onto Roof In Egg Harbor Crash: Police

A vehicle flipped and landed on its roof in a two-car accident by a Garden State Parkway off-ramp, police said.

Two cars collided, causing one to overturn onto its roof Thursday morning in Egg Harbor Township, police said. The vehicles made contact as one driver was exiting the Garden State Parkway in the Washington Avenue area at about 9:11 a.m., according to police.

The occupants of the vehicle that overturned — driven by Nelsy Velez-Vargas, 47, of Egg Harbor Township — were taken to AtlantiCare's Mainland division for medical evaluation, police said. The occupants of the vehicle exiting the GSP — driven by Kevin E. Zak, 58, of Little Egg Harbor — denied injury, according to police.

Officials temporarily detoured eastbound traffic while clearing the vehicles and investigating the scene, police said. The crash is under investigation and summonses are pending investigation results, according to police.
