Coast Guard Rescues Injured Kayaker Off Atlantic City
The man's kayak capsized, and he suffered a head laceration about 1.5 miles off Atlantic City, the USGC said.

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The Coast Guard rescued a man who suffered a head laceration after his kayak capsized off the coast of Atlantic City on Saturday. Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay were notified via radio of a kayaker in distress.
The man's relative monitored his progress from shore. The kayaker was about 1.5 miles off Atlantic City.
Coast Guard Station Atlantic City sent boat and helicopter rescue crews. The boat rescue team recovered the kayaker and brought him to the Coast Guard station. Emergency medical services awaited.

“This kayaker took the right safety measures by wearing a life jacket by notifying a relative of where they were planning to go,” Petty Officer 1st Class Daniel Box, a watchstander at Coast Guard Sector Delaware Bay in Philadelphia, said in a statement. “These safety precautions drastically increase survivability and decrease search time when a boater is in need.”
