Comcast Launches Xfinity On Campus at Stockton University

Students at Stockton University can now watch live TV and On Demand programming across devices with Xfinity On Campus.

Comcast recently announced the launch of Xfinity On Campus at Stockton University. Xfinity On Campus is a service that lets residential college students watch live TV and on demand content on their IP-enabled devices including laptops, tablets and smartphones. While new to Stockton, several colleges and universities already take advantage of this unique service including the University of Pennsylvania; Villanova University; West Chester University; Temple University; Drexel University and Rider University, to name a few.

Xfinity On Campus offers approximately 80 live cable channels including every major broadcast network, as well as channels like AMC, Bravo, Comedy Central, ESPN, FX and MTV. The service, which is included with room and board for students living in on-campus housing, also allows access to thousands of current season TV shows and hit movies via Xfinity On Demand. While off campus, students can use their university credentials to sign in and access online programming that comes with their subscription via TV Everywhere websites and apps such as WatchESPN and FXNOW.

"Our college-aged customers are increasingly viewing their content not in front of a traditional TV set, but on iPads, laptops and other mobile devices,” said Carolyne Hannan, Comcast Regional Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “As a result, we have evolved our offerings to better support this important segment, ensuring their viewing needs are addressed wherever they go.”

Millennials are the largest generation in the U.S. and are watching more TV on computers, tablets and smartphones than ever before. At the same time, 106 million Americans watch TV online today and that number is expected to grow to 145 million by 2017.

“The Xfinity On Campus service provides our residential students with on-demand and streaming capabilities comparable to what many of them have at home from their cable providers,” said Robert Heinrich, Chief Information Officer at Stockton University. “It is a wonderful offering that contributes to enhancing their entertainment experience outside of the classroom, making it more enjoyable.”
