Donald Trump Jumps Into Presidential Race

Trump officially announced he will seek the Republican nomination for president on Tuesday.

Donald Trump, the reality TV star whose name will forever be linked with the Atlantic City casino industry, is running for president.

Trump announced on Tuesday that he will seek the Republican nomination for president, the Courier Post reports.

Political analysts say Trump is more than a longshot to win the nomination, and Democrats mockingly welcomed him to the presidential race on Tuesday, according to the report.

The host of The Apprentice reality show, which won’t air during his campaign, joins a field that already includes former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Dr. Ben Carson, Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. Lindsey Graham, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Rand Paul, and possibly Gov. Chris Christie.

“Do we really need another Bush in the White House -- we have had enough of them,” Trump said via Twitter on Tuesday.

Trump discussed the threat of ISIS, fracking, and the recent prison escape in New York, among other topics, according to the report.

He famously claimed President Barack Obama shouldn’t be president because he wasn’t born in America as part of the birther movement. He recently brought that same accusation against Cruz.

Obama dispelled that rumor in a 2011 press conference.

Trump is heading to Iowa following his announcement. Iowa will host the first caucus.

Trump owns a 10 percent stake in Trump Entertainment Resorts. He began building his casino empire in the 1980’s, and at one time owned Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, Trump Marina, and the Trump Taj Mahal.

Last year, he filed a lawsuit against Trump Entertainment to have his name removed from Trump Plaza and the Trump Taj Mahal, which he is no longer associated with, because the state of disrepair for both casinos was “tarnishing his name.”
