Free Information Workshop on Reducing Energy Use and Saving Money with Free Winterization Services

The Stockton Center on Successful Aging (SCOSA) and NJPIRG’s Energy Service Corps at Stockton offer a free information session on reducing energy use and costs through winterization services on April 11 at 10:30 a.m. in the Stockton Campus Center, Meeting Room 5.
Escalating energy demands and costs, climate change and environmental degradation combined with uncertain financial times are placing increased strain on older adults. Many seniors struggle to make ends meet on limited/fixed income, often in older and less efficient homes. This free workshop will demonstrate simple and effective steps to help seniors maintain comfort and well-being while reducing their costs and their demand for energy.
Attendees will learn how to reduce energy use and save money on utilities as well as programs available to help seniors remain independent through rebates and other services. NJPIRG’s Energy Service Corps can also provide free individual winterization services to homeowners.Weatherization will consist of Stockton Energy Service Corps members doing an energy audit of the home and then proceeding to make simple weatherization steps such as caulking windows, replacing incandescent light bulbs with more energy efficient options, and correctly setting thermostats.
