Ex-Gymnastics Coach Sexually Assaulted Child In Galloway: Police

Everest Gymnastics confirmed that Matthew Shriver, charged with sexual assault and child endangerment, no longer co-owns the business.

GALLOWAY, NJ — A former coach and co-owner of a gymnastics center in Galloway is accused of sexually assaulting an underage girl, police said.

Matthew Shriver, 51, is no longer affiliated with Everest Gymnastics and will no longer be allowed on its premises following the accusations, now sole owner Jennifer Jones announced on the business's Facebook page. His Linkedin page lists him as being owner of Everest Gymnastics.

After receiving reports of an adult male engaging in sexual activity with a girl under the age of 16-years-old, police launched an investigation.

Cell phone records confirmed the victim's statements, which led to further search warrants for Shriver's cell phone, personal vehicle and place of business, Everest Gymnastics, police said. These warrants found more evidence.

Shriver, a Brigantine resident, was charged with first degree aggravated sexual assault, second degree sexual assault, second degree endangering the welfare of a child, resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence and obstruction of justice. He was taken to the Atlantic County Justice Facility where he will remain pending a future court date.
