Ex-South Jersey Nurse Sentenced For Having Violent Child Porn

Anthony Barbarino had 200+ photos and videos of child sexual abuse, at least one of a prepubescent minor and another showing violence: feds.

EGG HARBOR CITY, NJ — A former nurse and Atlantic County resident was sentenced to prison for possessing images and videos of child sexual abuse, including at least one of a prepubescent child and at least one depicting violence, federal authorities said.

Anthony Barbarino, 38, of Egg Harbor City, was sentenced to 33 months in prison following his previous guilty plea to an information charging him with one count of possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger announced.

Barbarino, between April 12, 2022, to Aug. 3, 2022, knowingly possessed 93 still photographs and 108 videos of child sexual abuse across three electronic devices, including at least one image of a prepubescent minor or a minor under 12-years-old and at least one image that portrayed sadistic or masochistic conduct or other depictions of violence, according to documents and statements made in court.

He was charged with a federal criminal complaint on Aug. 3, 2022. Prior to his arrest, he was a nurse, authorities said. Authorities did not say where Barbarino was employed.

In addition to the prison sentence, Barbarino was sentenced to 10 years of supervised release, and ordered to pay $13,000 in restitution to his victims, $5,000 under the Justice for Victims of Trafficking Act, and $5,000 under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act.
