Firefighter Injured, Dog Rescued From South Jersey House Fire: Police
Crews in Egg Harbor Township battled the blaze for more than an hour, police said.
EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — A firefighter was injured while battling a house fire Monday in Egg Harbor Township, police said.
A passerby noticed smoke billowing from the home on the 200 block of Laguna Avenue shortly before 3 p.m. Monday, police said.
When police arrived, they noticed flames and smoke coming from the house's roof.

Two officers forced entry into the home after knocking and getting no response, police said.
No one was inside, police said, but the family dog was rescued.

Members of Scullville, Cardiff, Bargaintown and Farmington Fire Departments responded to extinguish the fire. Northfield Fire Department and Somers Point Fire Department responded in mutual aid. Crews battled the fire for more than an hour, police said.
A firefighter was injured while inside the house, police said. Egg Harbor Township EMS and AtlantiCare paramedics were already on the scene and treated the firefighter.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Police believe it to be accidental in nature, likely caused by a heating unit in the attic.
