8,000 Lights Illuminate First-Ever Christmas Tree On Atlantic City Boardwalk: VIDEO

The 50-foot balsam spruce is the boardwalk's first-ever decorated Christmas tree. It was lit up for the first time on Nov. 29.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — For the first time in its 152-year history, the Atlantic City Boardwalk was illuminated by a live Christmas tree.

The 50-foot balsam spruce was adorned with 8,000 lights, which set the boardwalk aglow in a special ceremony on Nov. 29 held by Showboat Atlantic City.

The evening was filled with family-friendly holiday festivities, kicking off Showboat Atlantic City's Holiday Extravaganza on the Boardwalk.

Fun holiday events will continue on each Saturday and Sunday throughout the holiday season.
