Five Things You Need To Know About The End of the World

It's today.

1.Β Β Β Β  Today has been labeled as β€œJudgment Day,” and many have taken that to mean today is the last day Planet Earth will exist. More accurately, β€œJudgment Day,” refers to β€œThe Beginning of the Rapture,” for some who read the bible. This means that, beginning today, those of us who are to be saved will be taken to Heaven. God will judge if we are worthy, hence the term β€œJudgment Day.” It isn’t until Oct. 21 that the Earth will be destroyed by fire, according to this belief.

2.Β Β Β Β  There’s a chance the world won’t end today, or even this year. Harold Camping, who operates Family Radio, is the man pushing the idea that today is judgment day. This is not an unprecedented claim from Camping, who at one time predicted the world would end sometime between Sept. 5 and Sept. 27, 1994.

3.Β Β Β Β  These aren’t the only β€œEnd of Days” prophecies, although the others have nothing to do with Camping. The more popular end of the world theory concerns 2012. There are many theories, one of which states that a change in the planetary alignment will cause climactic strife the world over, including tidal floodings and various other natural disasters. This alignment comes about once every 26,000 years. Others believe that change in alignment doesn’t mean the end of days, but will certainly change the world forever in ways we can’t imagine. It’s all supposed to happen Dec. 21, 2012, so enjoy your last holiday season in 2011.

4.Β Β Β Β  Among those who believe the world will end next year: Director George Lucas, new Two and a Half Men star Ashton Kutcher, rapper Lil Wayne, and Mel Gibson.

5.Β Β Β Β  People are fascinated by Armageddon prophecies. Countless movies have been released on the subject, including last summer’s, 2012. Β That wasn’t as popular as Armageddon, starring Bruce Willis, tabbed by multiple websites dedicated to the matter as the best movie on the subject. If you count all four Terminator movies and a rumored fifth upcoming, Arnold Schwarzenegger has starred in six movies dealing with the end of the world and its aftermath. Charlie Sheen has starred in none.
