Galloway Blizzard Warning: Move Vehicles For Plowing

With 12 to 18 inches of snow and strong winds predicted, the bulk dropoff has been rescheduled, Galloway officials said.

GALLOWAY, NJ — With a blizzard warning in effect for Atlantic County and the potential for 12 to 18 inches of snow, Galloway Township officials have issued some updates and reminders as residents prepare for the storm.

The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the five New Jersey counties — Cape May, Atlantic, Burlington, Ocean and Monmouth — from 7 p.m. Friday through 7 p.m. Saturday. Snowfall totals of 12 to 18 inches are anticipated, along with winds gusting to 50 mph as the storm moves out.

"Travel could be very difficult to impossible. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches," the National Weather Service said.

Residents are urged to move cars and obstacles — such as portable basketball hoops and trash cans — out of the road.

"This will allow public works to do a quicker and more thorough job clearing the roads of snow," officials said.

The township has been applying brine to the roads to help with snow removal.
