Galloway Man Charged With Drunk Driving, Narcotics Following One-Car Crash

Matthew Shell was charged after his car flipped over after hitting a tree early Saturday morning.

A 33-year-old Galloway man has been charged with driving while intoxicated as well as several other motor vehicle violations following a one-car accident at the intersection of Pitney Road and Collins Road Saturday morning, according to Galloway Township Police.

Matthew D. Shell as additionally charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police responded to the intersection around 2:08 Saturday morning for a report of an overturned 2010 Chevrolet HHR.

An investigation revealed that Shell was driving north on Pitney Road when his car travelled east off the side of the road, struck a tree and flipped over on the side of the road, police said.

Shell escaped the car on his own and refused medical treatment from the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad.

He was arrested at the scene. Shell was released on all charges pending a future court date. The incident is currently under investigation.
