Galloway Man Killed After Being Hit By Car On Jimmie Leeds Road: Police

He was killed while attempting to cross the street from the south side at Pitney Road Monday evening.

Galloway Township, NJ -- A 70-year-old Galloway man is dead after he was hit by a car while attemtping to walk across Jimmie Leeds Road at Pitney Road Monday evening, according to Galloway Police.

Ayalew Beyene was attempting to walk across Jimmie Leeds Road on the south side at about 5:30 p.m. when he was hit by a 2001 Ford F150 being driven by 21-year-old Edgar Pelaez-Ruiz, of Pleasantville, the driver and witnesses told police.

Beyene was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division, where he was pronounced deceased.

No charges have been filed at this time.

The road was partially closed for about two hours. In addition to police and AtlantiCare medics, the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad responded to the scene.
