Galloway Man Pleads Guilty In 3 Separate Cases

MAYS LANDING, NJ — A Galloway man admitted to his role in three separate cases over the span of two years.

George Poteat, 36, pleaded guilty to several criminal matters pending against him in Atlantic County.

According to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office, Poteat pleaded guilty to possessing ammunition as a convicted person prohibited from possessing weapons, possessing CDS with the intent to distribute in a public zone, possessing CDS with the intent to distribute, and obstruction.

The plea covers three separate incidents and calls for five years in New Jersey State Prison, according to officials. The cases span incidents in Galloway Township and Atlantic City between late 2024 and July 2026.

In the first case, on Dec. 28, 2024, Poteat was found with several boxes of firearm ammunition inside his vehicle, according to the document. Based on his criminal history, officials said, he is prohibited from possessing firearm ammunition. He was arrested and later released on those charges.

The second case dates to July 22, 2025, in Atlantic City. According to authorities, Poteat was observed distributing crack cocaine out of a pill bottle on Atlantic Avenue. At the time of his arrest, a pill bottle was found in his groin area containing three bags of crack cocaine, and he was released on those charges, according to officials.

The third incident took place July 14, 2026, during a motor vehicle stop in Galloway Township. During a CDS investigation, Poteat was detained by officers and proceeded to resist and struggle with them. During that struggle, a prescription bottle was found in his possession containing 12 small clear bags of crack cocaine, 10 wax folds of heroin and one oxycodone pill, officials said.
