Galloway Restaurant Fires Employee For Insulting Cops On Receipt

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — An employee at a Galloway Township restaurant who left an insulting message for a police officer on a receipt has been fired, the restaurant owner said over the weekend. The restaurant owner, a Galloway Township native, said he was embarrassed by the situation, and that his business supports the police department.

He made the statement in a Facebook post, in response to a photo posted on social media of a receipt one of his employees left for a cop

The receipt referred to cops as “pigs,” and “puercos,” according to NBC 10. “Puerco” means "pig" in Spanish.

“I find this very gross and disrespectful,” Romanelli’s Garden Cafe owner Drew Huggard said in a post on the business’s Facebook page. “We have reprimanded the employees involved.”

“Sorry this employee should be fired. You don't reprimand bad behavior,” read one reply. “Clearly this employee did not respect his or her employer or his or her job.”

“Yes will not be here anymore,” responded, indicating the employee responsible for the insult has been fired.
Huggard, a Galloway Township native, went on to say the business supports police and all forms of law enforcement.

“I am the owner,” he wrote. “I have grown up in this town and I have always relied on the local police department. to keep myself and my family and friends safe. I would appreciate it if you could understand our frustrating situation. We would like to just let let everyone know we do not condone this type of behavior here.
