The experience “is meant to reduce test anxiety, increase student confidence and provide high school students with an inside view of college life,” said Dr. Chia-Lin Wu, associate professor of Mathematics and founder of the competition. “The students will be exposed to the challenges of math and will see where they stand among their peers.”
The daylong event includes breakfast and a welcome ceremony (8:30 a.m.-9:10 a.m.), an individual exam (9:15 a.m.-10:30 a.m.), a team exam (10:45 a.m.-noon), lunch in the N-Wing Student Restaurant and a tour of the campus (noon-1:30 p.m.) and a closing awards ceremony (1:45 p.m.-2:15 p.m.). The exams will be held in lower L-Wing and K-Wing.
